During the Great Depression, many children were not able to go to school. Many communities had to close down their schools because they could not fund them. Due to this, student bodies rapidly shrunk and the economic crisis worsened because less people would be able to get higher-working jobs. However, because jobs were scarcer than ever, those who could go to school went for longer durations to heighten their chances of getting work.
